JOHN McCORMACK AS CANDIDATE Received March 18, 9.50 p.m. HOLLYWOOD, March 17. Mr. John McCormack, the tenor, announced that he had received so many requests from friends to stand for the Presidency of Eire that he would probably offer himself as a candidate, provided that the fact that he was a naturalised American citizen did not interfere with his eligibility. He explained that Mr. de Valera intended to become Prime Minister, leaving the presidency open.
