CHAMPION HACK CLP CHALLENGE STAKES DAY BRIEF REMEW OF PROSPECTS autumn meeting of the Wellington Racing Club will be concluded at"Trentham to-day, when the Challenge Stakes will be one of the feature attractions, and the Champion Hack Cup will provide another thrilling event. In addition there will be the Autumn Handicap, run over eleven furlongs, as is the Champion Hack Cup, and thus providing the distance handicap performers with a truer test than the Thompson HandiAfter her Herries Memorial Cup win over this distance S tret to must be given a good chance, even with 9.6 in the Autumn Handicap, and she may get a better run than in the Thompson Handicap. Wotan will appreciate this distance, and there is a tendency to favour his chances. Jonathan must be considered with 8.9 especially after his Te Aroha win. Catalogue may' be closer up than in the Thompson, and Siegmund, with a better run, might be prominent. Brazen King was indifferently served at the start on Thursday so he should do better over this distance. Lowenberg would be preferred if rain fell. Davolo and Cricket may be preferred among the remainder. In the Champion Hack Cup fifteen are engaged, and more than half the field will be well backed. Accomplice, Ruinctte, Happy Night. Jar Tar, Ned Cuttie. Conveyer, Sigurd, Trebor. Lustra!, and Tullamore appear to comprise the possibles. The open sprint has attracted a good field, and included is the firstday winner. Laughing Lass, who is the form candidate but the experience of the past is that she has not always run two successive races satisfactorily. Suleiman, Top Row, Tray Bit. Royal Bachelor, and Brunhild will provide stout opposition. The following should be well supported in their respective engagements to-day: Ngaio Highweight—Charade, I ustral, Camilla Horn.
