BRITISH RUGBY UNION TEAM
SIDE TO TOUR AFRICA That the Rugby side to tour South Africa this season will be the strongest post-war British team to visit the Union was the opinion expressed by Paul Roos in an interview' with Reuter at Waterloo Station on his departure for Capetown. “1 am looking forward keenly to their visit, and while 1 was able to i see only the Test trial at Twicken-' ham, I have gained the impression i that the British team will be the! strongest post-war combination that • Britain has sent out to this country," | he said. "My talks with Rugby legislators here have been most successful. I am glad that the tour has been extended by four days for a second match in Rhodesia, and a visit to the Kruger National Park . Conference in South Africa. 1 "I hope to sec leading British Rugby legislators in South Africa during the British tour, and may say I have already discussed w'ith them the holding of an international Rugby conference in the Union this year. "1 have found a good measure of support for this proposal. But one or two influential people consider it should be held in England in .1940. The idea has, however, not been abandoned, and I hope such a conference will lake place in South Africa."
