EXPLOSION ON LAUNCH TIMELY RESCUE EFFECTED i I’ur Press Association.] NAPIER, Feb. 17. John O. Tait, junr., of Napier, received minor burns necessitating his removal to the Napier Hospital, and the remaining two of the crew minor injuries when the fishing kttinch River Nile caught fire and foundered in the vicinity of Cape Kidnappers to-day. ’The crew were rescued by the fishing launch Sea Hawk, but not till after they had spent 2u minutes in the water. It is understood that benzine \roir. a drum on the ouw of the vessel leaked into the cabin when Tait was using a primus stove to prepare a meal, a violent explosion following, ripping both lhe deck and the bottom of the boat out. Tait, senr., was trapped under the water by nets and ropes and after diving twice his son, despite injuries, brought him to the surface, after whica the rescuers arrived.
