MH. HANFORD LEIVERS LONDON, Jan. 31. The death has occurred of Mr. Hanford Leivers, a well - known Staffordshire business man and father of the swimmer Bob Leivers. He expressed the wish that his death should not be made known to his son until the Empire Games had ended. SIR J. CRICHTON-BROWNE LONDON, Jan. 31. The death has occurred of Sir James Crichton-Browne, at the age of 98. He was the author of a number of works on mental and nervous diseases and was associated with many medical societies in Great Britain. ■MOST REV. C. F. D’ARCY Received Feb. 2. 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 1. The death is reported of the Primate of All Ireland, the Most Rev. C. F. D'Arcy. The Most Rev. C. F. D'Arcy, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, was born in 1859 and educated at High School and at Trinity College, Dublin, where he was First Science Scholar, Gold Medallist in Mental and Moral Philosophy, am. took a first class in Divinity, progressing from his B.A. in 1882 to his D.D. in 1901. He was ordained deacon in 1884 and priest in the following year, and was curate ot St. Thomas', Belfast, in 1884-90, rector of Billy, County Antrim, in 1890-93, rector of Ballymena, Count.v Antrim, from 1893 to 1900, vicar ami dean of Belfast in 1900-03, and Bishc’p of Ciogher in 1903-07. Aftre this ne was successively Bishop of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin, until 1911, Bishop of Down and O'Connor until 1919, Archbishop of Dublin in 1919-20, and Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of the Church of Ireland from 1920. He held many olher posts in the Church and was select preacher at many English universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, receiving an honorary D.D. from Oxford University. His publications on theological subjects were numerous. He married, in 1889, Miss Harriet Le Byrtt, who died in 1932, and had one son and three daughters.
