JAPANESE POACHERS IN BEHRING SEA CONGRESSMAN'S STATEMENT (By Telegraph--Presa Association— Copyright! WASHINGTON, Feb. 1. Mr Anthony Diamond, Alaska’s Congressional delegate, told the House Committee that there would be armed conflict in the Behring Sea unless Congress enacts a Bill confiscating the Japanese salmon fishing vessels operating off Alaska. Mr Diamond produced photographs and documents proving that Japanese floating canneries were operating near the Alaskan coast, taking salmon without restriction and regardless of the United Slates conservation laws. Mr Diamond said that he had information that Alaskan fishermen are ready to protect themselves if the Government, does not.
