MISS JEAN BATTEN
FUNDS FOR ANOTHER FLIGHT. PUBLIC DANCE LICENCE. LONDON, Jan. 26. The Wimbledon Police Court granted Miss Jean Batten, through her agent, Mr. John Ashford Smith, an occasional licence for a public dance at the Palais de Dance, Merton, on January 28. Mr. Smith said that he was organising dances throughout the country in an effort to collect funds for another flight. It was really Miss Batten’s dance, but the management of the hall will take half the receipts.
CANCELS HER APPEARANCE
LONDON, Jan. 26. Miss Batten, interviewed by the Australian Associated Press, said that she did not know that the dance would bd licensed. She had now cancelled her appearance.
NO PLANS FOR FLIGHT.
Received Jan. 27, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 27. Miss Batten said she had no plans for another flight but intended to remain in England for some time.
