WANGANUI CLUB MONSTER MEETING ATTEMPTS ON RECORDS Entries from all parts of the country have been received for the electric light meeting to be held on Cook’s Gardens by the Wanganui Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club on the evening of New Year's Day. The committee has been concentrating its efforts in making the meeting one of the best staged locally, and if the weather holds line there is no reason why they should not be rewarded with every success. Jack Morgan, of Wanganui, is well known for his prowess aJ> a discus thrower, and his inclusion in the list oi competitors should be an added attraction. Morgan will make an attempt on the New Zealand record, aid in view ot his recent performances there is every reason to bciiive that he will equal, if not better the national figures. He was recently c eift ted to represent the Dommion at the Empire Games to be held in Sydney shortly. Jack Wade is well remembered for his many contests on the oval at Cook’s Gardens, and has proved a good draw-card on numerous previous occasions. He is riding at the top of his form and, if anything, is a better

rider than when he left this city. He alone should provide the crowd with many thrills. Mrs. RoHerson, a sprinter of Palmerston North, will be seen in action. She was unfortunate in being defeated in the recent athletic trial held at Wellington, the winner breasting the tape only a few inches in front of her. She also will make an attempt on the New Zealand record. Good entries have been received in all sections and it is generally anticipated that the meeting will be most successful. Those who attend the function can be assured of a splendid evening’s entertainment, as the fields are large and the leading athletes of all sections will be seen in action.
