FILMING WHANGAREI

CEN TENMAL PUBLICITY WHANGAREI, Dee. 23. A decision to have a moving picture taken of the principal business streets of Whangarei on Christmas Eve was reached by the committee recently set up by the northern local bodies and other organisations to go into the question of the establishment of a Northland court at the Centennial Exhibition in Wellington. The committee is of the opinion that in order to make such a court thoroughly effective it will be necessary to show a moving talkie film. The first step toward this is the taking of a limited quantity of Whangarei town and country attractions, which will be shown throughout the north to illustrate the possibilities of the project. A canvass among local residents toward the cost of this first picture has been most encouraging. If the scheme is supported by local bodies and local organisations and others, a comprehensive talking film will be taken and shown at the exhibition.
