PATEA AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB 15TH. ANNUAL BOXING DAY SPORTS Ideal weather, combined with a good track and efficient officials, went towards the success of .he Palea Amateur Athletic Club's 75th. annual Boxing Day sports yesterday. There was> a good field in most events, competitors coming from all over Taranaki and Wanganui, and any dud moments were vanished by the radio apparatus arranged by Mr I. C. Cunnison, assisted by Mr J. Sampson, which broadcast outside sporting events and music. The committee, Messrs R. W. Haddow, Goodwin, H. Palmer, W. Railton, W. B. Smith, H. Pauling, G. Broker, and Mr C. J. Gardiner (handicapper and starter), Mr ,1. Goodwin (assistant), Messrs F. W. Locker and F. McKenna (field event handicappers), T. Nelson (announcer) were of great assistance lo the efficient secretaries, N. Gardiner and L. Fisher. The popular president G. S. Fraser was to be seen well to the fore in every department. Owing to Jack of entries the ladies’ 100 yards was deleted from the programme. Trophies were presented by the Mayor, Mr F. Ramsbottom, and coveted Winchester Cup was won by L. P.
