Weston Hurst, a distinguished medical scientist from England, who is to be the institute's first director, is in Adelaide. Sponsors predict that the institute will one day become an important world centre of research into the cure of human and animal disease. Grass and Germs. Modern treatment of pastures designed to increase carrying capacity will be studied. The director has had much experience with stock diseases in Ihe U.S.A. Agriculture, dairying, winemaking and brewing will benefit from the laboratory wor kon bacteria. The new venture will house also the Waite Institute (already famous) and the nutrition department of the Council for Scientific Research.
