PERSONALS. The many friends of Miss Diana Roberts will be pleased to hear she is well enough to leave the Wellington Hospital and is at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Roberts, Patea. Mrs. T. E. Roberts and Mrs. W. Ballard relumed last week from Paraparamu. Mrs. R. Cowie is up from the South Island and is Mrs. T. Anderson’s guest. Miss Joyce Paterson arrives from Wellington to-day and will be the guest of Mrs. J. Kettles, Alton. Miss Verona Hunger is home from Wellington for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. L. Jennings are in Hastings. Mr. S. Pauling was in Wanganui for Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Moore, Kahui, spent Christmas with Mrs. R. E. Moore. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Harris and Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Reilly, Wellington, were Christmas visitors to Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hurley, Whenuakura. Mrs. Bremer senr., is holidaying in Whenuakura and Waverley. Mr. and Mrs. Wynne Snell are Eltham visitors to Patea. Miss Joan Nelson is spending her vacation in Napier. Miss Muriel Russell, Palmerston North, is Mrs. P. A. Bourke’s guest. Mr. and Mrs. C. Masters, Stratford, spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. M. Carey. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Smith are on holiday in Hastings. Mr. and Mrs. Wales, Auckland, arc Mrs. J. A. Haswell’s guests. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Martin and family were at Kapuni for Christmas. Mrs. W. Kelly and Misses Gladys : and Pearl Kelly leave to-morrow for Matamata. Miss Jean Smith is spending the holidays with Mrs. W. Kearney, Bulls. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Stevens, and Berry spent Christmas at New Plymouth. Miss Mary Clarkson is Mrs. C. Carroll’s guest at Midhurst. Miss N. McKenna, Hawera, is home for the holidays. Miss Jean Cotton is in Wanganui. Miss E. Hamerton has* returned from Wellington. Mr. Bramtord, Hawera, was the guest of Mrs. E. McKenna for the week-end. Mr. L. Neilson, South Island, is the guest of Mrs. Neilson senr. Mr. N. Nansett, Ashhurst, is home for the holidays. Mrs. Kingston is with her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Langslow, for the holidays, j Mi.sc Agnes Rohan is in New Plymouth.
Miss Edna Balsillie is holidaying in Timaru. Mr. E. Barnes, of H.M.S. Philomel, is home on vacation.
Mr. R. W. Hamerton is the guest of his daughter, Mrs. D. Melville, Hawera, for Christmas. Mr. E. Horner, New Plymouth, is the guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Horner. Mr. and Mrs. J. Jackson, Wanganui, and Mr. C. Findley, Palmerston North, are now Mrs. A. Gibson’s guests at Carlyle. Miss Shirley Findlay, Palmerston North, was the guest of Mrs. L. T. Adams, before going to her sister, Mrs. H. L. Moore, at Kahui.
Of interest to Patea is the engagement of Isabel May, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Preston Normanby, to Stanley Francis, onlv son of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. Balsillie, Patea.
Mr. L. Boyle, New Plymouth, is the guest of his mother, Mrs. W. Boyle. Mr. Alan Hunger is home from Wellington.
Mrs. R. Shepherd, Wellington, ar rives this week on a visit to Patea.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Cameron take up residence at Carlyle this week. Successful Patea candidates in the recent accountancy professional examination were: N. C. Gardiner, Mercantile Law and Joint Stock Companies. K. J. Bourke, Book-keeping and Accounts and Mercantile Law. E. J. Gilberd, Mercantile Law and Trustees.
WEDDING. QUAYLE—PRESLAND. A quiet wedding took place recently at St. Patrick’s Church, Patea, when Ruby, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Presland, Kakaramea, was married to Stuart, third son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Quayle, Palmerston North. Escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr. A. Milne, the bride was gowned in pale lemon, the trained frock having long slim-fitting sleeves. Worn with it were matching halo and sandals. The matron of honour, Mrs. A. Milne, sister of the bride, wore a blush pink ankle-length frock and finishing coatee cut on American lines with a large picture hat and matching shoes. Forty guests attended the reception at Mr. and Mrs. A. Milne’s residence, Opaku. The bride’s mother receiving the guests in a floral georgette frock, with toning posy. A navy tailored costume with toning accessories was worn by tne bride for travelling. Their home will be at Waverley.
