DROWNING FATALITY

Bather At Fox ton Beach TWO OTHERS IN DIFFICULTIES I Per Press Association. 1 PALMERSTON N., Dec. 19. Thomas Lovejoy, of Palmerston North, was drowned at Foxton beach this afternoon. Two other bathers, Jean Trevellyn and A. Allen, also of Palmerston North, got into difficulties and were rescued. Both were put to bed. The girl has since recovered, but the man is very exhausted. Lovejoy was married, with two children. Jean Trevellyn was aged 11 and Allan 45. Medical opinion is that Lovejoy had a seizure. “I was swimming near deceased at the time,” stated his companion, when suddenly he disappeared and I did not see him again. There was no time to call out to the reelmen.” Lovejoy’s body was washed up at 6.30 p.m. It was an hour and a-half after Lovejoy's disappearance that Jean Trevellyn and Allan got into difficulties. A bather rescued the girl and surf club members brought Allan ashore on a lifeline. Artificial respiration was necessary. In the morning, two women nonswimmers were carried beyond their depth on Lidos, but bathers effected a rescue.
