BAD LANGUAGE AT PEAT PARK

Sir, —It has just been brought to ! my notice that a letter has appeared in your paper from some person alleging that the boys in the Cricket Asso- | ciation are accustomed to using bad | language during play at Peat Park, j I wish to point out that as I was away I from Wanganui during last week, I | did not know until now that a complaint had been made; in fact, I have : not yet seen the letter published. ' However, in reply, I can state very I definitely that the boys in our association are a very fine type in every respect, and during the 12 months that I have known them. I have every reason to be proud of their general conduct, good sportsmanship and good fellowship. I can further state that misconduct and bad language arc not tolerated by myself nor other team leaders, and occasions when reprimands are necessary are becoming rare indeed. Last season I had to expel 1 some boys from the association for using bad language after being cautioned, and similar action will be taken on any future occasion should ’this be necessary. I wish to point out that Peat Park is used by a large number of boys (and girls) who are not connected with the Boys’ Cricket Association. These individuals will be found in the vicinity of the swings, whereas the boys’ cricket is played on the bottom ground apart from this locality. I have noticed some of the boys who I have warned out of the Boys’ Cricket Association, frequenting the swings, etc., and it would appear that this will be the source of trouble occasioning Ihe complaints to be made. I trust this will clear up the position so far as the boys belonging to this association arc concerned.—l am, etc., F. H. HOLZ. Hon. Sec., Boys’ Cricket Assn. Dr.-nmber 15, 1937.
