Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, December 19, 3 p.m. General Situation.—There has been little change in the situation since yesterday. Pressure over the Dominion is still relatively high while a depression is advancing slowly across the South Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Between northerly and westerly prevailing, force light to moderate generally but gradually freshening, more particularly about Cook Strait and in the far South. Seas (New Zealand waters): Moderate to rather rough and increasing about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea; Light to moderate and variable winds with northerly to westerly predominating and gradually freshening, particularly in the southern portion; seas smooth to moderate but increasing in the south. Weather: For the most part fair to cloudy in districts with a westerly aspect. However, from Taranaki southwards and in the far South conditions gradually becoming unsettled with scattered rain. Temperatures warm. Time of sunset to-day, 7.54 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 4.41 a.m. Phases of the Moon for December.—New Moon, December 3; First Quarter, December 11; Full Moon, December 18; Third Quarter, December 25.
