OHINGAITI BRANCH The monthly meeting of the! Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday in the local hall. Mrs L. H. Weston precided over a very fair attend- ; ancc ol> members. Two visitors were < welcomed and the meeting openedwith “The Creed.” After the usual business discussion | the president (Mrs Weston) welcom-1 cd Dr. Jessie Burnett tHu-ilcrville), I who gave a very interesting lecture I to those present. A splendid variety of articles in 1 the “bring-and-buy” stall tempted people to buy, with the result that a I pleasing sum was raised. This will go i toward helping the endownment fund. • The competition for the best pot of; gooseberry jam was won by Mrs T.; Hammond, with Mrs Pritchard sec-1 ond. For the competition for the best collection of vegetables, was won by Mr J. Hammond. A dainty afternoon tea was served I by the hostesses, after which the meeting closed with the National Anthem. The next meeting will be held in February, in the hall.
