ELLSWORTH’S CLAIMS FOR AMERICA. GOLD MEDAL AWARDED. Received Dec. 17, 6.50 p.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 17. Mr. Roosevelt presented Mr. Lincoln Ellsworth with the Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of his claims on behalf of the United States to 350,000 square miles of Antarctica.
