FARMING COSTS

BLENHELM RESOLUTION ( Per Press Association. 1 BLENHEIM, Dec. 17. Increased farming costs were adversely commented upon by the Blenheim branch of the Farmers’ Union, which resolved to forward the following resolution to the Minister of Labour, Hon. H. T. Armstrong: “This branch protests most emphatically against the increased costs to the primary producers caused by the raising of wages for dairy and agricultural workers.” The meeting also resolved to forward a remit to the Dominion executive of the union advocating the institution of a form of apprenticeship for inexperienced lads between 15 and 17 years desiring to learn dairying or agricultural work. A wage of 12s 6d and keep was suggested for the first six months, to be followed by award wages.
