Farr For America.

Tommy Farr is likely to miss his eagerly-anticipated Christmas dinner with relatives in England, for he has to return to America in mid-Decem-ber. He has received a cable from Mike Jacobs telling him he has been matched with Nathan Mann for a fight at Madison Square Garden, New York, on January 20. This means that he will be unable to do more than complete his film at Criklewood before recrossing the Atlantic. He is to sail on December 18. There has been talk—some of it in a hopeful strain—of Farr agreeing to a contest ih London before being recalled by Jacobs, but there now seems little chance of this in the circumstances.

An Unusual Catch. There was a remarkable incident in a senior cricket match in Adelaide recently. A batsman played at a ball from Frank Ward, which rose sharply and became lodged between the batsman’s body and his gloved hand. Vic. Richardson, who was fielding close to the wicket, rushed up, seized the ball, and claimed a catch, which was allowed. The decision was undoubtedly correct, says an Australian writer, but one cannot understand the batsman hugging the ball in this way' long enough to enable Richardson to get up and take it.
