PIANO-ACCORDION RECITAL
The piano-accordion seems to have come into its own in Wanganui judging by the number of people who attended the recital at Victoria Hall on Tuesday night, and were very enthusiastic over the items presented. The Wanganui Piano-Accordion Club took the stage on four occasions and delighted the audiences with popular melodies. This club has been in existence for a few months only, but during that period members have made wonderful progress and the reception they had from their audience showed how much they were appreciated. Mr. Ted Oliver, leader of the club, should feel justly pleased with the result of his work. Messrs. Oliver, Johnson and Neil proved to be popular artists and, whether playing in solos or duets, were well received and had to respond to enthusiastic applause. Mr. Jim Blackwood came from Wellington especially to perform at this recital and the Wanganui public
were quick to appreciate this fine player who is, perhaps, one of the best exponnents of the piano-accordion in New Zealand. He was also associated with Mr. Ted Oliver in several duets which were exceptionally well played, a fact which the audience were not slow to realise. Mr. Ross Robbins gave an illustration of his ability to mystify his audience in a number of conjuring tricks and his efforts well merited the reception he was given.
