AUCKLAND LOCAL BODIES

LABOUR NOMINATIONS [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND. Dec. 16. Nominations for the selection of candidates to contest seats on the city and suburban local bodies were received at a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee. There were two nominations for the city mayoralty and, although no official announccrpcnt was maue, it is understood that they were the DeputyMayor, Hon. Bernard Martin, and Mr J. Sayegh who, at the last election, came within 343 votes of Sir E. Davis’ total. Other nominations were received as follow: City Council, 54; Hospital Board, 36; Harbour Board, 29; Power Board, 65. There will be mayoralty candidates in the following suburbs: Northcolc, Takapuna, Birkenhead, New Lynn, Mt. Albert, Mt. Eden, Onehunga, ano Devonport. At previous elections very few suburban mayoralties have been contested.
