REGENT THEATRE
“STELLA DALLAS.’’ Film fans who have come to expect something unusual and outstanding in a Samuel Goldwyn picture will not be disappointed when they see “Stella Dallas,” featuring Barbara Stanwyck, which is showing at the Regent Theatre. “Stella Dallas” was previously made by Goldwyn as a silent picture 12 years ago. It scored a sensational success and brought film fame to the entire cast. The tensely dramatic and poignant story of mother love and sacrifice has been adapted and modernised . In addition to Barbara Stanwyck in the title role the cast includes John Boles, Anne Shirley ,and Alan Hale. Endowed with every showmanship and production facility which Mr. Goldwyn could
assemble to ensure its perfection, “Steila Dallas” represents a picture that will be hailed as one of the real 1 entertainment events of the year. “Easy Living.’’ A comedy which ranks among the smartest pictures of the year brings Jean Arthur, Edward Arnold, and Ray Milland to the Regent Theatre to-mor-row is the highly-entertaining “Easy Living.” The story concerns a stenographer, played by Miss Arthur, who suddenly and unexpectedly gels a sable coat valued at 50,000 dollars and then has to live up to it. Like the man in Mark Twain’s stor}- who found he did not need any money as long ws he had a cheque for a million pounds, Miss Arthur finds the town wide open to her. The splendid cast includes Luis Alberni, Mary Nash, and a score of other well-known character and featured players.
