CHRIST CHURCH

CONCERT BY CHOIR The Christ Church Choir (augmented) under the conductorship of Mr F. Wentworth Slater, A.R.C.0., on Wednesday evening gave a "repeat” programme at the Aramoho Anglican Church by invitation of the Vicar of Aramoho. The church was well filled with parishioners who throughly appreciated the sacred items contributed. The programme, which had the previous week been given at the mother parish of Christ Church, included an organ voluntary by Mr S. N. Slater, B.Sc., who is on a holiday visit to his parents from Dunedin, where he Is still undergoing musical studies. In his introductory remarks the vicar heartily thanked the choir for their visit, the latter being entertained by t|ie parish to supper at the conclusion Of the service.

The festival commenced with an entr'acte (Slater) “In Excelsis Gloria," followed by a chorale anthem. Several anthems followed, during which the solo parts were taken by Misses E. Murch, A. Ridd, and Mr E. R. Hodges. Master T. Thompson very tastefully rendered a Christmas carol, “In the Manger.” The solo "Ora Pro Nobis” (Piccolomini) was sung with good effect by Mrs J. Vallameare. The programme also included two 16th century carols, the first being an ancient Welsh one named "Nos Galan,” by Winter, and the second "Green Grow'th the Holly.” The final “Amen” and Vesper was composed by the choirmaster-organ-ist.
