SHOPLIFTER FINED
WELLINGTON WOMAN’S THEFTS [ Per Pr«ss Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. Remarking that the Court normally imposed imprisonment for shoplifting, Mr. Stilwell, S.M., this morning, in view of the Probation Officer's report, said that he would only impose a fine. Accused was Thelma Butterworth, aged 36, married, who was charged with the theft of a manicure set valued at 26s from Whltcombe and Tombs; two pairs of stockings valued at 9s lOd from Kirkcaldie and Stains; and two handkerchiefs valued at 5s from the D.I.C. A fine of £7 10s was imposed on the first charge, accused being convicted and discharged on the others.
