HUNTING IN ALASKA
THE FROZEN NORTH RANGITIKEI MAN’S TRIP Alfter hunting moose, caribou, bears, wolves anti mountain goats in the fastnesses of Alaska, Mr K. W. Dalrymple, chairman of directors of the Rangitikei Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, returned by the Niagara this week. For three months he stalked game in the Yukon beyond Point Selkirk up the Felly River. A member of a parly of four hunters, Mr Dalrymple made the trip into the interior on foot, dogs being used to carry the packs of equipment in much the same manner as horses are utilised for transport in rugged sections of bush country in Mew Zealand. For the summer season, the weather was bitterly cold and, with the party seeking only first-class trophies, long periods of careful stalking were a tax on endurance. Mr Dalrymple said the party's patience was rewarded by several excellent trophies, one large moose that was shot possessing an antler spread of 63in., while another was a magnificent specimen. Two bears and a wolf were shot.
