NO TENNIS ON SUNDAYS
TE AWAMUTU PARK QUESTION FINALLY SETTLED The question as to whether the Te Awamutu Tennis Club should be permitted to play on Sundays on courts at Victoria Park has occupied a considerable amount of time at recent meetings of the Te Awamutu Domain Board. When the matter was considered by the board last month the voting was even, the chairman, Mr. G. Spinley, giving his casting vote against Sunday play. On that occasion Mr. Spinley explained that his action would enable the matter to be brought up again when there was a full attendance of board members. On Monday night the question was finally disposed of for the current season, as far as th? Domain Board is concerned. Mr. J. C. Montefiore had given notice to move that a resolution against Sunday play made by the board last December should be rescinded, but the motion vyas lost by six votes to three. Mr. G. A. Jourdain did not record his vote until requested to do so by the chairman. He then voted with the majority, stating that he had considered the matter closed when dealt with at the previous meeting. On that occasion Mr. Jourdain had voted in favour of Sunday play.
