INQUIRY AS TO CAUSE LONDON, Nov. 23. Following 149 cases of typhoid at Croydon and five cases in one family in North Kensington, the Ministry oi Health has directed that an inquiry be made into the causes and the steps that have been taken to cope with it at Croydon, where the outbreak was at first attributed to watercress, sates of which at Covent Garden have been instantly brought to a standstill. There have hitherto been eight deaths. A British official wireless message states that the inquiry into the outbreak of typhoid in Croydon will be conducted by Mr H. Murphy, K.C., who will have as assessors Sir Humphrey Rolleston, the eminent physician, and Mr H. Gourley, engineer.
