WANGANUI EAST BRANCH On Saturday afternoon the Wanganui East Women’s Christian Temperance Union entertained babies of the Cradle Roll at the annual party. There were a number of mothers present, and Mrs. Day, the president, was in the chair. Miss Appleby, Dominion organiser, gave a very interesting address. Three new members were initiated and one accepted on transfer. Six new names were added to the Cradle Roll. Some of the little tots gave entertaining items. Afternoon tea was served to all. Mrs. Walker presided at the cake stall. On Tuesday evening the Band of Hope members and friends were entertained by Miss Appleby with a most interesting and instructive programme by the aid of a magic lantern. Seven new pledges were signed., The Wanganui East Branch of the W.C.T.U. held the annual meeting on Thursday in St. Alban’s Hall. Mrs. Day presided over a good attendance of members. The devotions were taken by Mrs. Ogier. Miss Appleby was present. Apologies were received from Mesdames Wickham and Bloor, and Miss Wallace. Correspondence was read and received from Mrs. Shute and Mr. Louis Falkner, Council of Education. It was decided to write to Mr. Brown thanking him for auditing the books and for his interest in the work of the branch. The concise report of the district convention given by Mrs. Scott was much appreciated. The final Band of Hope meeting for the season was held on Tuesday, 23rd inst. Owing to her removal to Auckland, Mrs. Shute forwarded her resignation ot the office of treasurer. Much regret was expressed and a record is to be made of appreciation of her faithfulness and zeal in that office for several years. The secretary’s report was reau and Mrs. An - drew was thanked for another year’s work.

Ogier; notable day;, Mrs. Cart<r; bring and buy stall, Mesdames Walker and Carter; birthday league, Mrs. Walker, press, legal and Parliamentary, Mrs. Andrew; Band of Hone superintendent, Mrs. Day; Band or Hope secretary Mrs. Scott. Aftern. on tea was dispersed and the meeting closed with the Benedict.on.
