WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, November 24, 3 p.m. General Situation.—The northern cyclone has deepened somewhat and is now centred just west of Cape Maria Van Diemen. A depression also covers the southern portion of the South Island but a rather intense anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds: North-easterly to northerly predominating at first, strong to gale force in the northern portion of the North Island and the far South, elsewhere mainly light to moderate but a freshening change to southerlies setting in to-night in the South and extending over the Dominion in the next 24 hours. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough to high north of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate but later rising. Eastern Tasman Sea: southerly winds, strong to gale force with rough seas. Weather: Cloudy to overcast, and with mist or fog in many places. Fairly general rain probable, with heavy falls over much of the North Island and some flooding, especially in the northern and central areas. Temperatures becoming cooler to-morrow. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 10 minutes. Rainfall, .49 inches. Temperatures: Maximum, 64deg. Fahr.; minimum, 50deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 7.32 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 4.45 ,m.
