LATEST BALANCE-SHEET FIGURES. SIX MONTHS’ CHANGES. The accounts of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Limited, a summary of which was printed in this column last Thursday, balance at £21,317,636, for the half-year ended September 30, a reduction of £536,110 on the previous half-year’s total, but an increase of £1,564,003 on the corresponding figure for the half-year ended September 30, 1936. Balance-sheet figures as at September 30, 1937, and the movements over the half-year are as follows: liabilities.

Fluctuations in liabilities are comparatively small. The sharp drop of £2,964, 155 in cash items among the assets is practically offset by increases in sugar stocks, investments and debtors. Notes attached to the bal-ance-sheet state that profits of subsidiary companies have been included to the extent to which they have declared dividends during the period covered by the accounts.
