COLONIAL SUGAR CO.

PROFIT FOR HALF YEAR AGAIN PASSES £500,000 MARK Received Nov. 17, 3.10 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 17. Net profit of £509,895 was made by file Colonial Sugar Refining Company for the half year ended September 30, compared with £546,916 for the preceding six months and £489,420 for the September, 1936, half year. The allowance for depreciation on the refinery and mill plant for the past half year amounts to £164,250. The board proposes to pay dividends amounting to 15s a share, which will absorb £438,750, and to add £50,000 to reserve account. The sum of £422.833 will be carried forward, against £401,688 brought forward on March 1 last. A brief report states that the output of sugar from the Australian mills will be even greater than the record crop last season, while in Fiji the production will be slightly less than last year. The young cane for next season is well ahead, prospects are good, and the general position of the company is described as satisfactory. The meeting of shareholders is fixed for November 24.
