RUGBY LEAGUE TOUR
AUSTRALIANS DEFEAT OLDHAM Received Nov. 7, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 6. In a Rugby League match the touring Australian team defeated Oldham by 10 points to 6. Light rain fell during the match between the Australians and Oldham. The home team won all the early scrums, enabling them to invade Australian territory, but the Australians, using their weight, pushed them back. Oldham pressed solidly and Australia forced frequently. Only a miracle stopped Oldham from scoring. Oldham opened the score with a goal, but two minutes later Australia went ahead, Narvo making an opening and McKinnon scoring. After beating three men, Beaten goaled. Oldham again goaled, and at half-time the score was in favour of Australia. The visitors attacked in the second spell, but Oldham’s defence was sound. Oldham pressed again and Australia had some narrow escapes, the handling being bad. A great run by Narvo and a goal by Ashworth on time saw Australia victors.
