ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION

MR. WALKER’S PLANS YACHT’S WORLD CRUISE. PREPARING FOR NEXT YEAR. LONDON, Nov. 3. Mr. E. F. Walker, leader of the proposed British expedition to the Antarctic, is sending out to Lyttelton stores, and probably an aeroplane, on board the world’s largest yacht, the Westward, which is making a world cruise with 80 passengers to aid the expedition’s funds. The members of the expedition, which will travel in the ship Shackleton have yet to be chosen. They will set out next September. The yacht Westward, which has been lent by its owner, Mr. Harold Heates Hales, will leave Plymouth on December 14 for Lyttelton via Panama, returning to England via Cape of Good Hope. Most of the members of the expendition will participate in the cruise. The expedition is expected to reach Lyttelton In December, 1938, lo pick up the stores. It will then go to Wood Bay, Victoria Land, one objective being the finding of the coastline of Oates Land. Mr. Walker will be accompanied by the geologist, Mr. J. L. Kent, as second in command and also his other colleagues will accompany the yacht Westward. Mr. Walker will spend a month in New Zealand, returning to England to take out the ship Shackle-
