PATEA MAGISTRATE'S COURT Judgment for plaintiff by default was given by Mr J. H. Salmon. S.M., in the following cases heard in the Patea Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday:—Maypole Stores, Ltd. v. H. Davies, costs only (8s), solicitor ss. On a judgment summons P. W. Locker was ordered to pay T. W. Wall, Ltd., f!3 15s lOd (solicitor fl Is), in default 14 days’ imprisonment. Tommy Tutawa was ordered to pay W. C. Barclay £5 4s 5d (solicitor 15s 6d), in default five days’ imprisonment.

Mrs A. Hurley presided over a meeting of the W.I. on November 3. Apologies for non-attendance were
received from Miss ChatteXon and Mrs Hughes. The motto “Let not the sun go down upon thy wrath,” was given by ISliss Hilliar. Mrs Davidson was the successful competitor for the best four scones. Mrs Greenhill gave an interesting report of the half-year-ly council meeting recently held in Hawera. Mrs Davidson kindly donated a number of books for circulation amongst members. Arrangements were discussed for a flower show to be held on December 1. Mrs Greenhill, assisted by Miss Milne, served a dainty afternoon tea.
