UNITED STATES’ POLICY
LIVE AND LET LIVE WAR TO BE AVOIDED NEW YORK, Oct. 26. A message from Hyde Park says that President Roosevelt in a Navy Day proclamation said: “War will be avoided by all honourable means. It is the fundamental policy of the United States to keep the peace and live and let live in the spirit of a good neighbour. I believe that it is entirely consistent with our continuing readiness to limit armaments to maintain our sea defence at sufficient strength to ensure the preservation of democratic ideas and the maintenance of righeous peace.” A Boston message says that Mr Herbert Hoover in an address stringently attacking the New Deal and President Roosevelt, declared that he himself was not a candidate for any public ollice. He warned the nation against being led toward collectivism, which was resulting in hate and national disunity. He asked the youth of the nation to rally to true Liberalism.
