BRIDE’S TROUSSEAU

burnt as distress signal. HONEYMOON YACHT IN GALE. LONDON, Oct. 27. When a gale imperilled a honeymoon yacht from Torr Head, County Antrim, Mrs. Sivia Loo, an Estonian, burned her trousseau as a distress signal. Lightning revealed the couple clinging to the mast of the vessel, which was sinking at the foot of ugly cliffs. The Port Rush lifeboat put off but had engine trouble, and finally coastguards rescued the couple by using a rocket apparatus to send a lifeline to the yacht from the cliffs.
