A Week-end Special There’s usually a week-end special to attract the housewife to Dustin’s. Card Evening On Tuesday evening, Mrs Hanks, Durie Vale, hostessed a very enjoyable and successful flag “500” party to help towards the funds of the Durie Hill Croquet Club. There were eight tables in play and the lucky winners were Mr and Mrs Petrie, Mrs Hughes and Mr Dixon. Wangaehu Golf Club To-morrow (Saturday), to mark the closing day, a dance is being held in the Wangaehu Hall at 8 o’clock. Johnson’s Piano Accordion Band are supplying (he music. There will be Monte Carlos, etc. A good supper vs being provided. Altogether a firstclass evening’s entertainment is assured patrons. N.Z. Women’s Association Paper The New Zealand Women’s Association of Sydney is to have its own paper, the first issue of which will be published on November 1. It will contain news of the association’s many activities as well as personal items concerning New Zealander* visiting Sydney and overseas. Mrs Donald Ferguson will edit the publication, and Mr E. Dollimore, of the New Zealand Tourist Bureau, has designed the cover. • • • • Bridge Olympic Great interest has been centred in the Australian Bridge Olympic, and on Wednesday evening the Wanganui players gathered at the home of Mrs F. C. Hutchison to take part in the contest. There were four tables in play and Mr Gardner was responsib*? for the efficient arrangements. Those taking part were Mesdames H. Hartland, H. Robertson, R. Hatrick, M. L. H. Coghill, H. Taylor, T. W. Blennerhassett, J. Glenn, W. J. Gardner, D. Wilson. J. H. Salmon, R. W. Orton, Miss Hatrick, Dr. F. C. Hutchison, Messrs Newton. Jacobs, and Dunlop.
