DORSET HORNED SHEEP

TO BE SHOWN AT A. AND P. SHOW There will be on exhibition at the Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral Show next month for the first time, four or five sheep of the Dorset Horn breed. This type of sheep is a big framed mutton sheep with a medium fleece of fine wool. They represent in Australia what the South down does in the lat lamb trade in New Zealand, but they have not such a shapely carcase as the Southdown. They are, however, very much hardier, and are the only breed of sheep in the world to produce two lambs a year. Their name is derived from the fact that both the ram and the ewe have horns. The exhibit should prove one of keen interest to the farming community.
