Y.M.C.A. ANNUAL DISPLAY

All arrangements are now complete for the staging of the Y.M.C.A. annual display and concert taking place in the Opera House next Tuesday and Wednesday, November 2 and 3. A feature of this year’s display is the engagement of Mr Alex Regan, worldrenowned stage and radio entertainer. Not very many artists can boast of the experience that has come Mr Regan’s way. His first introduction to New Zealand was when he starred with the “Clem Dawe Musical Comedy Co.” some years ago. Mr Regan has had many contracts with the well-known firm of J. C. Williamson, Ltd., and as a matter of fact he , was present in Wanganui at the open- 1 ing of the Regent Theatre. In England, Mr Regan co-starred with famous Evelyn Laye and Ralph Lynn in musical comedy at the Queen’s Theatre, London. He has also appeared in revue with the renowned George Robey at the London Hippodrome and has played in every London Theatre of note. In radio, Mr Regan is also a personality. He has played over all the YA stations and has been heard over 2ZB. Mr Regan is the type of entertainer that immediately gets on side with his audience and h’s i singing and monologue work is of : outstanding merit. In addition to Mr Regan, 2ZB are sending up two i of their most popular announcers. | Having been heard so often over the : air it will be of special interest to . Wanganui listeners to hear these talented performers of the air in per- ' son. A feature of the programme will be the demonstration hy members of the Y.M.C.A. Altogether over 150 performers will take the stage and the standard of efficiency displayed will be an eye-opener. A number of novelty items are included on the programme and weeks of training by those responsible will make this display well worth seeing. Booking plans are now open at the D.I.C. and the popular prices of Is 6d and 2s will ensure two packed houses.
