ACCUSED ACQUITTED Received Oct. 27, 10.15 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 26. John Montague, the well-known golfer, whose trial on a charge of theft of 700 dollars has been proceeding, was acquitted. The Judge told the jury that he was sorry to say that the verdict was not in accordance with what he thought they should have rendered. Montague’s mother and sister testified that on the night of the robbery iie was home in bed at midnight. Th'e crime was committed after 2 o’clock in the morning. William Martin confessed that he was a member of the quartette committing the robnery and testified that Montague did not participate.
