AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND WARNING AGAINST BOYCOTT MOVEMENT Received Oct. 27, 9.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 27. A warning is given that the Japanese Government regards the boycott movement in Australia against Japanese goods as very serious. Mr J. Yamashita, a member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce at Sydney, declares that a section of the Australian public, including women's organisations and a section of the Church, are acting in a very unfriendly manner. If this is continued it will cause Japan to retaliate against Australia’s wool and wheat exports. Mr Yamashita indicates that Japan is likely to enter the wool markets in full strength early in the new year, and in addition will arrange for increased shipments of frozen beef for army consumption from both Australia and New Zealand. JAPANESE APOLOGY SHOOTING OF BRITISHER COMPENSATION OFFERED Received Oct. 27, 5.5 p.m. TOKIO, Oct. 26. The British Ambassador at Tokio has received a note from the Foreign Minister, Mr K. Hirota, apologising for the killing of the British soldier at Shanghai on October 24, promising to deal suitably with the persons responsible. and offering compensation for the damage sustained by British subjects. CHINESE RELIEF LONDON LORD MAYORS FIN'D Received Oct. 27, 9.5 p.m. LONDON, Oct, 27. The Lord Mayor’s Chinese relief fund totals 128,000. A sum of £lO,OOO is being spent immediately on medical supplies and £5OOO is being cabled to China.
