S.P.C.A. STREET APPEAL GOOD PUBLIC RESPONSE Considerable success was acmeved by the Wanganui branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals yesterday, when its annual street appeal was held. The sum of £49 14s Hid was collected, but as there are a number of returns yet to come to hand the final sum will be in excess of £5O. Yesterday’s appeal was excellently supported by the citizens of Wanganui, who apparently have a due recognisance of the work being carried out by the organisation. The re--1 suit was considerably in excess of the / amount collected as a result of last year’s appeal. s The society extends its thanks to - those who assisted in the collection — 1 Miss Goldney and members of the ? junior league, the Wanganui Y.M.CJI, z lor the loan of tins, the Tes.jk j Studio, for the use of its lobby, Y’ffe ’ ■ management and staff of the Regent 1 Theatre, for the benefit matinee, Mijg - C.
