MONKEYS TO BE DESTROYED

RAIDS MADE ON SCHOOL LUNCH DURBAN (By Mail). Sentence of death has been passed upon Durban’s wild monkeys. In view of their increasing depredations, and the flow of complaints to the City Council, it has been recommended that the Director of Parks and Gardens should be authorised to take steps for the removal of the monkeys from the more populated areas of the city by destruction of the least painful kind. The position has grown steadily more serious. Complaints have been made of the native servants being bitten when attempting to drive the monkeys away from fruit crops. Recently the monkeys in the Stella Bush area swarmed down on a nearby school and, in addition to stealing food from the children’s lunch bags and from their hands, entered class rooms and other buildings. One monkey broke a window in attempting to escape from a class room. XMAS PHOTOGRAPHS HOME MAILS Now’s the time to have your portraits and groups taken to send Home for Christmas.
