PERSONAL i Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Standish, Shannon, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. Priest for the week-end. Mrs. S. Priest is in Shannon for her brother's wedding next week. Mrs. D. Melville, Hawera, has been visiting Patca. Mrs. J. Haarer and her infant daughter have returned from Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. H. Barker, Pahiatua, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. Locker. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Jenkins, Auckland, were guests of Mrs. W. B. Smith for the week-end. Mrs. J. G. Beamish, one of Patea’s pioneer settlers, received many congratulatory messages on the occasion of her birthday on Tuesday. Miss E. Hamerton has returned from Napier. Miss Joan Hills was a Stratford visitor to Patea for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. L. Jennings, Hastings, have taken up residence at Carlyle. Mr. E. Gilberd was in Palmerston North for the week-end. Unable to open their own court on Labour Day owing to weather conditions, the Methodist Tennis Club spent a pleasurable afternoon on Mr. Marshall's court, and after play a delectable tea was enjoyed in the Foresters’ Hall. A social followed conducted by Mr. Mairs, with items by Messrs. A. Reid, G. and K. Weidenbohm and S. Spindler.
