Klexema Skin Treatment. Readers are asked to note that the principal of the Klexema Skin Treatment will be visiting Wanganui on Friday and Saturday, October 29 and 3, with headquarters at the Rutland Hotel. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evenings 7 to 8 p.m. Consultations free.' Turakina Library Dance. A dance in aid of the above is being held in the Turakina Town Hall to-morrow (Thursday), October 28. The music is being supplied by Goiie’s Novelty Orchestra of four players, with a- good floor and supper, altogether patrons are assured of a firstclass evening’s entertainment. Concert and Dance at Kaitoke. To-morrow night in the Kaitoke Hall a concert and dance is being given in aid of hall improvement funds. The organisers have gone to considerable trouble to arrange the excellent programme which will be presented and which includes a play by the Westmere Drama Circle as well as other very good items. The concert will be followed by a dance. Brassware and Carved Articles. A smoker's set that is both useful and ornamental, is one in coloured brass seen at the “Glory Box.” The set is well-equipped and can be raised to any height desired. Among other lovely goods recently unpacked are table book racks, attractively carved and can be extended. These are only 7s 9d, and carved cigarette and jewel boxes are 8s 6a. Plain and tall brass candlesticks are Ils 6d, and there’s also an excellent range of rose bowls from 12s upward.-
Gas Cooking Demonstration. Mrs Bate, the new demonstrator, who has joined the City Gas Department, will give a free demonstration on Friday afternoon (October 29) at 2.30 in the gas office hall (upstairs). Mrs Bate will explain the advantages of gas cooking and will demonstrate the cooking ol a six-course meal with the various dishes in the oven together. She will also demonstrate a cold lunch, and cook pastry and cakes. This is an opportunity not to be missed by those using gas stoves.
Holiday Trip to Pipiriki. A most enjoyable time was spent by a party of forty who journeyed to Pipiriki House for the week-end. Although the weather was rainy during the Sunday morning, the afternoon, improved enough for the visitors to travel up the river by boat to the famous Drop Scene. Included in the party were visitors from Hawera, Palmerston. North, Wellington, Wanganui and a few overseas visitors from Germany. Among the Wanganui folk were Mesdames S. Robinson, D. Abernethy, Hewitt, R. D. Robbins, Wells, D. Forbes, Misses Audrey Naumann, Olive Graham, W. Mackintosh, and Mr. R. Robbins. New Zealanders Abroad. Mr. George W. Gregory (late New Zealand Railways, Wellington), with his wife, has since the Coronation festivities had a most enjoyable time visiting various parts of England. On November 6 they will leave by the Orford for New Zealand. The Orford, upon arrival in Sydney, will be mak!ing a special cruise to the Dominion, and Mr. and Mrs. Gregory will remain on board, and they expect to arrive in Wellington on December 26. Miss Stella Murray (Christchurch), the well-known New Zealand singer, has had a month’s pleasant motoring holiday in Devonshire and Cornwall. From Torquay she went to Dartmoor as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Nicoll (late of Canterbury); who have a country home near Princctown. After Dartmoor she stayed at Bude, and motored all over Cornwall. Miss Irene Wilton (Oxford, New Zealand) has been visiting schools and factories in the Midlands as well as schools in the vicinity of London. She also has had a fortnight’s tour in Scandinavia, travelling with New Zealand friends. For the last six weeks she has been staying in Surrey with Dr. and Mrs. M. Mcßae and family (late of Wellington), and now she has taken a position at the Hill School, Langton Green, Tunbridge Wells, where she will remain until Christmas time.
