HUNTERVILLE BRANCH The Hunterville branch of the W.D.F.U. met in the Presbyterian schoolroom on October 7, Mrs Lloyd Hammond presiding over a large attendance of members. Apologies were received from Mrs Hurst, Roper, Kilmister, Bowick, L. J. Thompson, D. Simpson, S. McAlley, R. Dalziell, Harre, Jackson, J. Brown Hogg, Aid worth and Harvey. The Wellington Central Provincial meets in Marton on October 26, when Mrs Drake, Dominion president, will speak and all members are invited to attend. It was decided to hold the afternoon for the R.S.A. and Blind Institute after Christmas. It is proposed to hold a garden party at the residence of Mrs Lloyd Hammond at Rata in November. There will be stalls and other attractions. The hostesses. Mrs Wilton, Mrs N. Lambert and Mrs Simpson, assisted by the juniors, dispensed a dainty afternoon tea. Floral work is always popular and the branch were fortunate in secur- j ing the services of Mrs Ensom, of i Marton, who demonstrated the making of a sheaf of flowers, giving many useful hints as well as answering the | many questions asken. The apprecia- ! tion of the members was shown in i the hearty vote of thanks passed. The competition was won by Mrs! Lane, with Mrs Weston second and i Mrs N. Lambert third.
