NEW TRADE AGREEMENT
GAZETTE NOTIFICATION. [ Per Press Association. ) WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. Notification that the trade agreement between New Zealand and Germany operates on October 12, is given in a supplementary Gazette. The duties provided for by the agreement in respect to German goods are applied to similar goods from Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Luxemburg, Brazil, China, Czechoslovakia, Egypt, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
According to regulations issued with the supplementary Gazette, a number of classes of goods are exempted from primage duty imposed by the Customs Act, the new order operating on October 12.
Exemptions include cotton thread, yarn, flux, silicate of soda, waxed paper, lead oxides (subject to certain restrictions as to use), and goods included under the following tariff items: Lenses, artists’ materials, emery paper.
