Withdrawal From Spain GOVERNMENT WILLING IF ITALIANS DEPART DANGER OF- WORLD WAR (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received Oct. 11, 9.50 p.m. VALENCIA, Oct. 11. The Spanish delegate to the League of Nations, Senor Negrin, ha<s issued a statement announcing willingness to send the International Brigade from Spain provided the Italians withdraw. He added: “If the civil war is continued until the spring a world war is inevitable.” LINER DRIVEN ASHORE SHELLED BY INSURGENT DESTROYERS. ONE DEAD; EIGHT INJURED ALGIERS, Oct. 10. The Spanish liner Cabosantotome was driven ashore and set on fire off the Algerian coast. One of the crew is dead and eight are injured. After an hour’s shelling by two insurgent destroyers, an SOS brought French seaplanes which scoured the scene without finding a trace of the attackers.
An explosion and fire broke out when a shell hit the stern of the vessel, which was beached, the survivors being taken off in a tug. The Cabosantotome was voyaging from Russia. It is not known if she carried passengers. SPANISH FRONTIER BRITISH LABOUR VIEW Received Oct. 11, 8.5 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 11. The Leader of the Opposition, Major C. R. Attlee, speaking at a meeting of the Spanish Medical Aid Committee, foreshadowed that the Labour members of Parliament would demand the reopening of the Spanish frontier.
