WORK TO CEASE

COAL MINE AT KAMO FEARS OF SUBSIDENCE [ Per Press Association. ] WHANGAREI, Oct. 9. A serious position, which will result from the cessation of hewing coal, has arisen at the Kamo Collieries, Ltd.s mine at Kamo. The company, which is opening a new field, has been served with an interim injunction from the Supreme Court to stop immediately any further pumping and to allow the water to rise back to the old level. The reason given for this action is a fear in some quarters that further de-watering of the old mine workings might cause a subsidence in the main northern railway line. In the past twelve months the company has employed approximately 70 men.
