“THRILL” HOLD-UP BANDITS
YOUTHFUL C RIMINALS IN AMERICA POLICE ARREST GANG Received Oct. 10, 9.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 9. With the arrest of John Mahoney, aged 20, the police called the cockiest gunman in their experience, a gang of six so-called “thrill” holdup bandits, including two girls, has been finally apprehended, Manoney confessing to a long series of robberies. He was found when detectives trailed his sweetheart. He attempted to shoot Detective Hunney, brother of the former world heavyweight boxing champion, but Tunney wrested a revolver loaded with dumdums from the gangster. The entire gang faces a possible murder charge as a result of a holdup in. which a man was shot and critically wounded in a cafe. They are being held without bail pending the outcome of the shooting. The girls, aged 16 and 19, said they always accompanied the gangsters, noneof whom is over 21, simply lor the thrill.
Mahoney's observation after his arraignment, was: “I’ll be sending the District Attorney a stick of dynamite.”
